How to Export Your Data from Websupport’s Services (EU Data Act)

This guide explains how you, as a customer, can retrieve and export your data from Websupport’s products and services, in accordance with the EU Data Act (Regulation (EU) 2023/2854). For each data category, we specify what information is included and how to access it.

Good to know: If there is no dedicated export function for a particular piece of data, you can always export the information by copying it from the interface, or by using your browser’s print-to-PDF function.

1. Web Files and Website

Data included: All files on your hosting account (HTML, images, scripts, themes, plugins, uploads).

How to retrieve it: Connect via FTP and download the files, or use the web console if you want a more advanced option with command-line access. All Websupport hosting plans include automatic daily backups, but if you want to take your files with you when moving elsewhere, FTP is the simplest route.

2. Databases

Data included: The content of your MariaDB/MySQL databases (and MSSQL databases, if you use any).

How to retrieve it: Export it as an SQL file via phpMyAdmin, which you can reach from your Websupport control panel.

3. Email

Data included: Messages, folders, and contacts in your Websupport email accounts.

How to retrieve it: Connect your email client via IMAP and copy the messages locally or to another provider, or save them as a PST file in Outlook.

4. Domains and DNS

Data included: Domain names, DNS zones, and DNS records (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, and others).

How to retrieve it: View and copy individual records in the DNS editor in your control panel. If you need to move your domain elsewhere, request an authorisation (transfer) code from Websupport.

5. Websupport Website Builder

Data included: Your website’s design, structure, and content.

Important: A website built in Website Builder cannot be exported via FTP or moved to another platform.

How to save your content: Copy the text from the editor, download the original images you uploaded yourself, and use your browser’s print-to-PDF function if you want to keep a record of how the page looked.

Important to note: When the Website Builder service is cancelled, the website and its content are deleted — save anything you want to keep before cancelling the service.

6. Microsoft 365

Data included: Email, calendar, and contacts in Exchange Online; files in OneDrive and SharePoint; user and license information.

How to retrieve it: Export email/calendar/contacts via Outlook as a PST file. Download files from OneDrive/SharePoint directly, or sync them to your computer. Export the user list as a CSV file from the Microsoft 365 admin center.

7. Account Information and Invoices

Data included: Contact and account details, active services/subscriptions, invoices, and payment history.

How to retrieve it: Everything is displayed in your Websupport control panel. Invoices can be downloaded as a PDF.

8. SSL/TLS Certificates

Data included: Certificate details, validity period, and certificate type.

How to retrieve it: View certificate information in your control panel. Certificates you purchased yourself can be exported together with the private key, if you saved it at the time of ordering.

Good to know: Let’s Encrypt certificates are issued automatically and can’t be transferred — your new provider will issue a new one free of charge.

9. Export via Websupport’s API

Data included: Machine-readable access to, for example, your domain lists, DNS records, and invoices.

How to retrieve it: Websupport offers a REST API you can use to retrieve your data programmatically. You manage your own API keys from your control panel.
