AAAA Record

Artikelinnehåll

AAAA DNS record is an alternative to A records. You use these records when your server address is in IPv6 format.

What does an AAAA record look like?

*  600  IN  AAAA   2A03: 2880: 2110: df07: face: b00c: 0:1.

Example of setting up an AAAA record

You want to point the subdomain blog.mydomain.com to the server at 2A03: 2880: 2110: df07: face: b00c: 0: 1 (IPv6 for Facebook). As you can see, this isn’t a standard IPv4 address (for example 172.16.254.1) like you use in an A record. This is an IPv6 address that you use in an AAAA record.
